2.1 PROGRAMME OBJECTIVE:

To empower communities enhance their livelihoods security

CPA 3 COMMUNITY HEALTH PROMOTION PROGRAMME

INTRODUCTION

Community Health, a public Health field is a discipline that concerns with the study and betterness of the Health characteristics of biological communities.

Community Health has three broad categories;

  1. Primary Health Care which refers to interventions that focus on the individual such as hand washing, immunisation, circumstance, proper use of toilet and water source etc
  2. Secondary Health Care refers to those activities which focus on the environment such as digging latrines, protecting water sources, drawing puddles of water near the house, clearing bushes and spraying insecticide to control vectors like mosquitoes.
  3. Tertiary Health Care on the other hand refers to those interventions that take place in a hospital such as surgery.

So promoting community Health should entail the three core components and its success will depend on how well information to the general public using one to one or one to many communication (mass communication)

Community Health promotion programmes are not limited to specific health problem but also bring in Education, community development, policy, legislation and regulation in the prevention of communicable Disease, injury and violence, community involvement is key at all level of performance.

Namirembe Diocese Health Department the implementing department intends to use communities that make up the Diocese

3.1 OBJECTIVE

To promote Community Health Services in Namirembe Diocese.

3.2 SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES

  • “To promote better sanitation and hygienic practices in communities of Namirembe Diocese.
  • To promote quality Health and Health lifestyle.
  • To provide a quality Health Service through active community involvement.

 CPA 4: Institutional Capacity Building programme.

Objective:

To build the departmental capacity to mobilize and effectively utilize resources for improved departmental performance .

The core programme area focuses on two main area.

  1. Human resource and organizational development.
  2. Mobilization of local and international resources for sustainable service delivery.

Outputs and activities :

  • Strengthen mechanisms for own resource generation.
  1. Develop and investment strategy for a steady inflow of own revenue to support social services.
  • Fundraising plan developed and operationalised.
  1. Develop resource mobilization strategies.
  2. Undertake fundraising activities.
  3. Establish total funding requirements.
  • Streamline management policies and guidelines for efficient performance.
  1. Enhance staff capacity for better service delivery.
  2. Develop a database of development partners that support capacity building
  3. Define, document and disseminate the role of the department and its mandate to all the stakeholders.
