The Patron of Boys'and Girls'Brigade of Uganda- Namirembe Diocese the Rt. Rev. Wilberforce Kityo Luwalira on 6th June 2022 presided over a Thanksgiving service that included swearing in of the new Diocesan Brigade Executive, official handover and induction of the new leaders. It's the first of it's kind in the history of Brigade in Namirembe to peacefully transfer power from one regime to the other before the Bishop and other witnesses.

The highly organised event was held from St. Paul's Cathedral Namirembe and it started at 2:30pm with the honoring and respect for colours. 

In his sermon, the Bishop was happy for the Brigade ministry which he referred to as highly organised, disciplined and very smart. He hailed Brigade for participating in Church activities from the local Church to the Province. He added that he was happy to see them in Namugongo marking the 3rd June celebrations.

He however urged them to work for heaven in everything they do in Brigade. Translate the smartness, the music, the order, the energy into faithful and committed servants of Christ who work for heaven. He appreciated the outgoing Executive led by former Field Officer Lt. Emmanuel Mutengo for the good work well done. He prayed and blessed the new Executive for a fruitful term of service.

The Secretary General of Brigade Mr. Dantes Kashangirwe hailed Boys'and Girls'Brigade of Namirembe for being the role model to all other groups in the entire country. He attributed this to good supportive Church leadership and thanked Bishop Luwalira for being central to this success.

The Diocesan Youth Secretary Mr. Lule Tefeero who also happens to be a former senior brigade officer thanked Bishop Luwalira for providing an enabling environment in the Diocese which has birthed the continued growth of youth fellowships in the Diocese. He added that the potential of Brigade in transforming young people into responsible citizens is very high and he committed to continue providing support so as to reach out to as many young people as possible with the good news of Jesus Christ.

The new Executive took their biblical vows before the Bishop and committed to serve God with all their energy, respect the values of the Church as well as of Brigade God being their helper.

Former Field Officer Lt. Mutego officially handed over all instruments of power to the new Field Officer and he assured continued support for Brigade growth. He urged members to support the new Executive and wished them the best.

Brig. Gen Jesse who is the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Head of Human Resource Department- Uganda Police Force represented the Chief Guest Gen. Abel Kandiho the Joint Chief of Staff Uganda Police Force who didn't make it due to other very important assignments.  

He saluted Brigade for being a force of discipline and very organised. He presented a highly educative paper on discipline and uniform as core components of any successful organisation/force. He handed over Ug shs 3million donated by Gen. Kandiho towards the activities of Brigade.

Luzira Senior Secondary School also contributed Ug shs500,000/= and Lwadda Parish Ug shs100,000/= to support Brigade ministry in the Diocese.

The colorful event was attended by the Archdeacon of Luzira Ven. Canon Moses Banja, Rev. Abraham Lubega Kisakye the Diocesan trainer, the Parish Priest of Kamuli Parish Rev. Kakooza, Rev. Festo Karungi of St. John's Entebbe, Rev. Capt. Elly Wasswa of Lwadda Parish and so many other invited guests.
